Bodie California was one of the most notorious Gold Rush mining towns. After ups and downs with the mining industry, it became a ghost town in the 1930's. It is now a state park maintained in a state of "arrested decay". Apparently it is heavily visited and maintained today. However, these photos were taken about 1978 and the day I was there, no one else was. No visitors, no rangers, no sign of life (except one stray cat).
